Growing up in LaGrange, GA., Gerri knew at an early age that she loved nature flowers and color.
She worked for many years in the real estate industry and is now enjoying her painting interests. She is a self-taught artist, experimenting in oil, acrylic, watercolors and most recently pastels. She studied a number of years with Greta Schelke, a Dutch Watercolorist in Roswell, GA. and Wanda Cox, a Portrait Watercolorist in Carrollton and Marsha Savage, a Master Pastelist and friend in Smyrna, Ga. She has recently studied with Margaret Dyer, a Master Pastelist.
Gerri served on the Cobb County Master Gardener Volunteers Board for a number of years. She enjoys perennial, vegetable and flower gardening and uses many of them in her paintings. She currently serves as a Volunteer Counselor at First Care Women’s Clinic in Marietta and Volunteer at Metro Woman Prison with Heartbound Ministry.
She has lived in Cobb County 54 years with her husband, Michael. They have two grown children, who have the best spouses ever. They have five awesome grandkids! They are delighted to report they have currently 3 great grands and one on the way.
MEMBERSHIPS: Gerri is a member of the Atlanta Artists Center and Smyrna Arts and Cultural Council.
She has exhibited her paintings at Smyrna Library, as “Artist of the Month”, Lake Burton Art Extravaganza in Clarksville, Ga , Mable House Student Exhibit in Mableton, GA, Dutch Palette’s Fall Art Show, at the Atlanta Country Club, Timpson Creek Gallery at Lake Burton, The Spruill Art Center Student Exhibit in Dunwoody and currently at the Gifting Tree Home and Garden Store in Smyrna, GA
